The pair were accused of miming oral sex

Lucio Barani and Vicenzo d'Anna were suspended by the lecturer after he received complaints about their behaviour which reportedly occurred all through a debate in parliament.

Lecturer Pietro Grasso banished the Italian senators – who are members of the country's Liberal-Well loved and Autonomous Alliance – after they were accused of making oral sex gestures in the direction of Barbara Lezzi.

Ms Lezzi was debating on behalf of the eurosceptic Five Star Movement.

The alleged gestures enraged other senators, plummeting the chambers into chaos.

Paola Taverna, another member of Five Star, branded Mr Barani a "disguising pig" before she re-enacted the gesture for the lecturer to see.

But Mr Barani claimed he wasn't miming oral sex.

He said he was simply pointing at his mouth to show the opposition where they may possibly place their policies.

According to Breitbart, he said: "I am truly sorry about what is happening in the Senate due to a difference of opinion generated by some instinctive gestures of mine.

"With my hand turned to my own face, I was inviting those who were interrupting Senator Falanga to swallow the papers they were waving so vehemently.

"If (my gesture) was interpreted in an offensive way, I apologise to the women colleagues who perceived such gestures as being directed at them."

Senator Vincenzo D'Anna defended the pair's gestures, claiming that they have been victimised because they are men.

He said: "The so-called ladies do much worse than us and Grasso allows it."

Mr Grasso is examining footage of the incident to see clarify the gestures.
